The treatments target the lymphatic system through CAM and sauna therapies. Increasing the lymph circulation helps reduce stress and aches, and further, aids in weight management. The spa experience for small groups includes several key elements: The SUOMAA peat sauna treatment, traditional Finnish saunas (both electrical and wood-warmed), an infrared sauna, an ice bath, a hot bath as an alternative to the sauna, and the use of a DKN whole body vibration machine, which makes various muscles groups contract.
During the summer, guests are invited to try the wood-warmed SUOMAA tent sauna and the warm, salt water outdoor pool. The pool has a countercurrent option for swimming. Another way to enjoy the pool, is through water aerobics.
Medical SPA Aino offers further treatments for pain. For these types of treatments low level laser therapy (LLLT) and acupuncture are used. For more extensive and individualized care, 1-3 day treatment sessions are provided. A bread and breakfast stay is included as part of the treatment.
Transportation is offered to small groups of eight from the Pirkanmaa and Uusimaa regions.

Metsäkansa’s Ainola becomes Valkeakoski Health Village!
A haven of health, Metsäkansa’s Ainola and Aino Klinikat Oy have taken Valkeakoski Health Village as their auxiliary business name.
Leena Larva, a specialist in gynecology and owner of Metsäkansa’s Ainola, developed Medical SPA Aino in 2002. This spa offers lymphatic circulation and drainage enhancing sauna experiences in combination with Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies for small groups. The benefits are widespread; decreasing stress and aches, and aiding in weight management, to name a few! As for more extensive treatment plans, which can range from 1 to 3 days in length, these are individualised.
Guests are invited to try the peat sauna, a traditional method to treat ailments. At the cornerstone of the provided treatment is the SUOMAA-concept, also developed by Larva. In addition to the spa experience, the appreciation of the fine arts and music are woven into the concept. Research has found art to be central in the support of successful therapy (Konlaan, Bygren, Johansson. Kulttuurikokemukset ja terveys, 2000).
Medical SPA Aino methods are based on stimulating the flow of the lymph through non-pharmaceutical approaches; muscle function, utilizing hot and cold temperature alternations, and the benefits of peat on the skin. These methods have been found to help the body detoxify, to decrease swelling, increase muscles relaxation, and to bolster the immune system.
